Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu is, in essence, an art of defense. It is based on leverage, so you do not need great physical strength to practice. For this reason it is considered a "gentle art".  You use your body as a lever to apply joint locks and pressure to submit your opponent. Thus, this art-form allows small people to defeat larger and stronger fighters; it balances size and strength inequalities, gives confidence to the shy and introverted, and more limits to the shot.

Jiu-Jitsu improves physical strength, aerobic and anaerobic endurance, and heart health. A typical workout can burn hundreds of calories. However, defining what is Jiu-Jitsu can be complex because it is so much more than simply a type of exercise. So give it a go, and take a class today; your hands-on experience is worth more than a thousand of our words.
